Thyroid

The thyroid gland is one of the largest endocrine glands and consists of two connected lobes. The thyroid gland is found in the neck, below the thyroid cartilage. User can find the abnormalities of thyroid through observation, water test, auscultation and palpation through the simulated virtual activity.

Procedure

User can select the desired test from the peripheral drop-down list to examine the neck. User can click on the desired view by clicking on the respective view like left side view or right side view.

     Water Test:

a.    Select the test from the drop-down list.

b.    System will display a patient drinking a glass of water.

c.    Hit the button,”Start Test”.

d.    One can observe the movement of the  thyroid gland while drinking.

e.    If thyroid is  abnormal, the system will show the thyroid projection in the neck

     Observation:

a.    The system will display a patient’s head till the neck part.

b.    User can select left side and right side view of neck from the respective view.

c.    Hit the button, “Start Test” to move the chin up and down.

d.    If thyroid is abnormal  the system will show the thyroid projection in the neck

     Palpation:

a.    Hit the button, “Palpate” to start palpation.

b.    if the case is abnormal, while clicking the "Palpate" button the system will show an alert with text as swelling otherwise just show the alert with the text as "Thyroid is Normal".

     Ausculation:

a.    Hit the button, “Start Test”.

b.    A stethoscope will appear on the neck side playing an audio of normal thyroid(bronchial  breath sound) if thyroid is normal otherwise play an audio of abnormal thyroid(like the bruit sound).
