Diaphragmatic Excursion

Diaphragmatic Excursion is the movement of the thoracic diaphragm during breathing. It tells us how far the diaphragm is moving during breathing - max inhales and exhale. Through the simulated virtual activity the user can listen to the percussion sound on clicking each marked spots (blue spots) and examine the system.

Procedure

     The system will display a patient’s posterior view with percussion spots marked in blue color.

     Click the blue color spots from the top to bottom.

     Listen the percussion sound as resonant or dull.

     Note spot where the resonant sound to a dull sound.

     Click “Inhale” Button.

     Again, click the blue spots from the top to bottom.

     Listen the percussion sound as resonant or dull.

     The system will display the diaphragmatic distance from the point where  resonant sound to a dull sound during inhaling.

     Click the “Exhale” button to repeat the procedure.
