Cyanosis

Cyanosis is the appearance of a blue or purple coloration of the skin, nails or mucous membranes due to the tissues near the skin surface having low oxygen saturation. Cyanosis is classified into central cyanosis and peripheral cyanosis.

     Central cyanosis: Bluish coloration of the lips and tongue.

     Peripheral cyanosis: Bluish coloration to the toes, palms, and the fingernails.

 

Activity allows the user to determine the color of the skin, mucous membrane, nail beds, lips.
