CN IX - Sternocleidomastoid

The Sternocleidomastoid muscle flexes the neck and helps with the oblique rotation of the head. The muscles are examined to assess the dysfunction of spinal accessory nerve. The user can test these muscle functions using the interactive simulated virtual activity by observing the patient’s response to user’s resistance.

Procedure

The system will display the patient's face with a hand on one of his/her cheek.

     Click on the toggle button, “Left”/”Right” to select the desired side.

     Hit,”Give Resistance” to give resistance to the selected cheek.
