Abdomen Examination- Percussion

Percussion is a method of tapping on a surface to determine the position/abnormalities  of liver and spleen. Percussion of the abdomen is performed to check liver size, spleen size, and any abnormal gas or fluid collections.Through the simulated virtual activity one can listen to the percussion sound played clicking on desired area on  the abdomen of the virtual patient.

Procedure

     The system will display the patient’s abdominal region.

     User can set the position of the patient by clicking the image icons like supine, left lateral and right icons provided in the bottom panel.

     Click on the toggle button to see the normal mode and x-ray mode.

     Click on  Spleen and liver  area to percuss and check the percussion sound to identify the position and size of liver and spleen.
